Would you like to be part of a forward thinking progressive service? Do you want to develop your skills working within mental health for older adults? If the answer is yes; we have Healthcare Worker vacancies at the Orchards Inpatient Unit, Maidstone.

In return, you will receive the support of a well-developed nursing team and you will have the opportunity to participate in appropriate training for this role.

The unit specialises in the assessment and treatment of older adults with both functional and organic mental health issues. The Orchards is a 16 bedded unit based at Priority House. The Healthcare Worker is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to:

- Deliver an effective and competent level of care under the guidance and supervision of the associate workers, senior associate workers, qualified nurses and occupational therapists, determined by the patient’s plan of care.

- Be fully aware of the needs of patients over a 24 hour span of care.

- Knowledge and Experience in Mental Health and older people

- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

- Be willing to develop knowledge and skills.


Band 2: Completing the NVQ level 2 or 3 and extra units of competence as required for you service within a specified time.

Previous experience of working with people with severe mental health problems and experience or knowledge of caring for people in an inpatient setting.

This post is subject to a six month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS Social Care and Partnership Trust.
