The UHL Bowel Cancer Screening Centre began in February 2014, covering a population of almost 1 million people. As part of the national programme all men & women aged 60-75 are offered to take part in 2 yearly screening. We have also completed the rollout of bowel scope which offers screening to those aged 55 and our team is expanding to manage the additional overall workload.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and flexible team player to join the nursing team as a Specialist Screening Practitioner. The role is varied and ranges from conducting nurse led clinic and colonoscopy sessions to supporting patients throughout the screening process, engaging in health promotion activities and undertaking and presenting audits.
You will need to be a good communicator,able to prioritise and manage your own workload and work as a team to ensure the smooth running of the service. Training will be provided for use of the Bowel Cancer Screening IT system and the successful candidtae would be expected to undertake the Specialist Screening Practitioner course.
The post is based mainly at Glenfield Hospital but with some bowel scope lists undertaken at Loughborough, Melton and St Lukes Hospitals. Shift patterns are predominately Monday to Friday but with 1 or 2 evenings per week and some weekend working is required as per the needs of the service.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
